Objectives and Purposes
The Alliance for Distance Education in California is a voluntary, nonprofit association interested in the development of distance learning for the learners of California.
The primary objectives for which the corporation is formed are as follows:
- To serve as a professional association of practitioners who use technology for education, training and/or professional development.
- To advance the development, implementation, evaluation, and administration of distance education and innovative educational technology in all fields of learning.
- To advance technical and institutional support for practitioners.
- To encourage the dissemination of distance education, its related technologies, needed skills, and perspectives as an academic discipline.
- To create, sponsor and facilitate both voluntary and professional activities designed for collaboration, dialog and dissemination.
- To organize ongoing asynchronous and synchronous online communication channels by which members exchange ideas and engage in discussions of issues related to distance education and innovative educational technology.
- To form liaison relationships with other distance learning and educational technology groups.
- To be as inclusive as possible in scope, serving the aspirations of all members and working for equitable access to online education.
