Objectives and Purposes

The Alliance for Distance Education in California is a voluntary, nonprofit association interested in the development of distance learning for the learners of California.

The primary objectives for which the corporation is formed are as follows:

  1. To serve as a professional association of practitioners who use technology for education, training and/or professional development.
  2. To advance the development, implementation, evaluation, and administration of distance education and innovative educational technology in all fields of learning.
  3. To advance technical and institutional support for practitioners.
  4. To encourage the dissemination of distance education, its related technologies, needed skills, and perspectives as an academic discipline.
  5. To create, sponsor and facilitate both voluntary and professional activities designed for collaboration, dialog and dissemination.
  6. To organize ongoing asynchronous and synchronous online communication channels by which members exchange ideas and engage in discussions of issues related to distance education and innovative educational technology.
  7. To form liaison relationships with other distance learning and educational technology groups.
  8. To be as inclusive as possible in scope, serving the aspirations of all members and working for equitable access to online education.
