The Alliance for Distance Education in California will soon begin accepting nominations for the Sixth Annual Affinity Group Awards, affectionately called, "The AFFY'S." The AFFYs honor distinguished distance education and innovative educational uses of technology in California and across the United States.
The AFFYs reflect the collaboration implicit in ADEC membership. whick includes educators in kindergarten-12, community college, 4 year colleges & universities, as well as professionals in Lifelong Learning and education related profit and nonprofit businesses.
2010 AFFY recipients:
• Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration
• Distance Learning at LACMA
• HippoCampus
To qualify for an AFFY AWARD, the project must :
- be inter-segmental - Involve creative and/or unusual partnerships
- have objective outcomes (successes, research, assessments)
- make effective use of technology (i.e. internet, TV, ITFS, cable, videoconferencing, mobile technologies, DVD, etc.)
- be a model for effective student - teacher accommodations.
- be a model for effective distance and distributed education.
The award goes to a project - not a person or an organization
